With a population of a whopping 921 residents, making up 370 families during a 2004 U.S. Census, Golden Beach is an exclusive and expensive side of northeast Miami-Dade County. Famous (and wealthy) inhabitants of the city range from Bill Gates to Ricky Martin. Besides the expensive real estate, Golden Beach has such a few number of residents due to its size: the city is approximately 1.8 mile long and only four blocks across.

 

Despite this, this area has some of the most sought-after oceanfront homes in South Florida. In order to keep the area looking nice year-round and to maintain its quiet, family-oriented atmosphere it's had since its incorporation in 1929, the construction of high-rise buildings and general commercial development is prohibited in the town.
