The town has beautiful streets lined with palm trees and large, stately homes. Miami Lakes is a new city, only being incorporated since December 2000, its early beginnings as a dairy farm. Like the name with suggest, the Town of Miami Lakes has 23 lakes found throughout its residential neighborhoods. Since a beautiful town like that would be bereft if it lacked parks, the area has several of them (along with tot lots) placed strategically within walking distance near each neighborhood. One of the most popular hang outs for residents and tourists alike is Main Street, an area of town that contains activities and places ranging from Don Shula's Hotel, shops, movie theaters, restaurants and villas.
